Story maps are a great tool to tell location based stories. They can be interactive, colorful, and can engage an audience with photos and informative maps. Below are links to story maps that I created as part of my academic pursuits.
Oil Refineries & Community Health
I researched a handful of oil refineries and their impacts on the health of surrounding communities for a Geography of Health class in 2020. I designed this story map to show the locations and tell the stories of several communities.
Some Attractions in Washington D.C.
This, my first story map, was done for a GIS class. It is designed as an informational map for tourists in Washington D.C. and each point on the map is linked to a photo and a brief description of the site. The attractions are categorized using tabs above the map. This project was a fun opportunity to use a new technology to tell a story about a city that I enjoy visiting, and I was able to use all my own photos.
